How to
Resizing and Cropp in IrfanView
First open IrfanView, Now find the photo you
wish to and edit. There are two ways you can
do this. Either 1.) Go to 'File,'
(drop down) click'Open,' and
browse your computer for the picture you
want or 2.) You can drag and drop the file into IrfanView. Method 1
however works the best if you're
not sure which picture you want to edit
because it has a thumbnail preview so you
can easily browse your photos.

Now just opens
the file and views it at 100% magnification. Use the
zoom out button on the top toolbar until you
can view your entire photo.

Cropping the photo, click
and drag a box over the part of the picture
you want to keep. If you are unsatisfied
with your boxed in area, click once outside of
the box to start again.

When you are
happy with your
target area, click on 'Edit,' and then click
on 'Crop Selection.'

As this point your photo will be cropped, and IrfanView will again change the
magnification to 100%, Use the 'Zoom Out' button like before
if needed to
view your entire picture.

Resizing your photo, go
to 'Image' tab (drop down) and click on 'Resize/Resample.'

Now your screen should
look like this.

Click on the radio button next to the words 'Set
new size.' Now look at the values for the
picture height and width. Change the 'Width'
value to be 600. The 'Height' value should
change accordingly because the 'Preserve
aspect ratio' button should be selected
below. The 'DPI' should be automatically set
to 72 if not change it. Also, in the Units,
Make sure the radio button is set to
pixels.
Under 'Size method,' make sure
the settings are the same as the picture
below. 'Resample' should be selected, and
the box underneath it should say 'Lanczos
filter (slowest).' Click 'OK.'

Your picture is now cropped and
resized. All there is to do now is (save as) it.
Be careful not to save this as your original
image! Click 'File' and select 'Save as'
(NOT Save).

A
'Save as' screen will come up, change the 'Save as type' to 'JPG
- JPEG Files.' A smaller screen will appear,
and change the 'Save quality' to 100.
Remember to put your animals name and your
name on it (optional date) Now put your
photo in a Pawzitive prints folder and click 'Save'.
