In Memory Of

This picture of Kansas was a great memory for me. We clicked just like that. Sometimes other volunteers would be walking Kansas but when Kansas saw me he would jump and try to come to me. I personally would have adopted him, but I just didn't have the room. It was a happy/sad moment when Kansas did get adopted to a nice family.

When I was ask to build a new SPCA Tampa Bay Volunteer website I was very excited. Debbie Conigliaro was also ask to join me. As a team this was fun and quite a challenges too. I hope the website will be a nice source of information and a place to get to know each other as fellow volunteers. If you are thinking of joining us as a new volunteer, please read my testimony below.

I got involved as a volunteer in 2009. I'm am semi retired now and needed something that would be fun and rewarding too. I am an animal lover and was specifically looking to do volunteer work with animals. Instead of just that, I found an organization that offered an incredible program with passionate and professional people on a ground-breaking mission in the animal world. Not only did they make me feel welcome, but I learned so much more about animals. The experience, knowledge, and the schooling gave me the tools needed to give my best to our wonderful four legged friends here at the SPCA.
I highly recommend the SPCA program to anyone looking to volunteer and have a rewarding experience.

Kansas and me

I love photography too. Photographing a dog may seem like an easy (fun and games) thing to do. In reality is often quite a challenge.

I picked the Dogs to photograph and their behaviors can range from perfect manners to pure insanity! Choosing background, composition is easy, the SPCA has a nice yard. This does requires patience - both with you and your walking partner, plus the technical aspects. It doesn’t have to be a complex shot, but your options when photographing pets do allow you a lot of flexibility and creativity. It is not for everyone however, the upside is knowing you had a little part in helping these unconditional loving animals find a home for life.

I do love graphic art too. Building websites is a hobby and a passion for me. I did design this website as a effort to connect with my fellow colleagues and share our love for these beautiful sweethearts. I would like to invite you to join your local shelter volunteer program in your neighborhood. If you are a volunteer photographer already this is a nice oasis to put your "Pawzitive Prints". My photo memories always bring out a smile to me when I go back and review them. Plus looking at other shelter web photographers' work inspires me too with new ideas.

I'm also a member of DART (Disaster Animals Response Team) The mission of the (DART) is to promote the safety and well-being of all animals who are or may be adversely affected during a disaster and to respond to the needs of those who provide emergency and supportive care to animals during all phases of a disaster. DART is a team of volunteers focused on all aspects of dealing with animals in disaster situations. We are brought together for our love of animals and have backgrounds in animal and non-animal related fields. DART is a program of the Humane Society of the United States and is a non-profit organization comprised solely of volunteers. When a disaster strikes, DART members move quickly to assess the damage and evaluate the impact on animals, and then provide the most appropriate support to the community.

This is Danny Boy a beautiful chestnut from Lakeview Sables This was a recued horse, now fully recovered. Below is Tiny, almost a horse too, surrender to the SPCA for adoption. He is another story.
