Photo Resizing and
Cropping in Photoshop
Go
to File (drop-down), open the picture you
want to edit. just
click on 'file', then 'open'.

Browse through your
files and choose the picture you want to
edit. Photoshop uses a nice thumbnail
viewer to help you find your files. Double
click to open.

It
should look like this, You'll see the Crop Tool, like in the
picture below. Click once on the Crop Tool button to
select .

Now click
hold and drag the mouse
over the part of the image you want to
square in.
When you release the mouse button, Photoshop
will shade the area outside the box you
created. You can adjust the box in area by
the squares on the edge of the
box to change the shape of the box. Once
you're content with the area you want to
keep, click the check mark located on the
top toolbar.

Next Click on 'image' and select 'image
size.'

A small menu
window will
come up. Make sure to set the resolution
before setting the picture dimensions! set the resolution to
72 pixels/inch.

Now, only change the
width value. Check to see that the
"constrain proportions" checkbox is checked.
Set the width to 600 pixels, then click
'ok.'

The image is now
resized, but it is zoomed out.

If
you want to see the full size,
click on the zoom in button on the right
toolbar until the number on that toolbar
reads 100%.

It's now time to save
the resized and cropped photo! Click on
'file,' then select 'save as.'

Change the file type to
'JPEG.' Type the name of the animal and your
name (optional date). Click 'save.'

A new menu will appear
so that you can decide the file size and
quality of the picture. You can change the
quality from to a 8 to 9, click 'ok'
and you're done!
