Photo Resizing and Cropping in Photoshop

Go to File (drop-down), open the picture you want to edit.   just click on 'file', then 'open'.

Browse through your files and choose the picture you want to edit. Photoshop uses a nice thumbnail viewer to help you find your files. Double click to open.

It should look like this, You'll see the Crop Tool, like in the picture below. Click once on the Crop Tool button to select .

Now click hold and drag the mouse over the part of the image you want to square in. When you release the mouse button, Photoshop will shade the area outside the box you created. You can adjust the box in area by the squares on the edge of the box to change the shape of the box. Once you're content with the area you want to keep, click the check mark located on the top toolbar.

Next Click on 'image' and select  'image size.'

A small menu window will come up. Make sure to set the resolution before setting the picture dimensions! set the resolution to 72 pixels/inch.

Now, only change the width value. Check to see that the "constrain proportions" checkbox is checked. Set the width to 600 pixels, then click 'ok.'

The image is now resized, but it is zoomed out.

If you want to see the full size, click on the zoom in button on the right toolbar until the number on that toolbar reads 100%.

It's now time to save the resized and cropped photo! Click on 'file,' then select 'save as.'

Change the file type to 'JPEG.' Type the name of the animal and your name (optional date). Click 'save.'

A new menu will appear so that you can decide the file size and quality of the picture. You can change the quality from to a 8 to 9, click 'ok' and you're done!
